I'll have to admit that I'm not a big fan of New Years resolutions, mostly because I have trouble keeping them.  I am a fan of deciding to try new things and learning new skills.  If you're a hunter who agrees, the Minnesota DNR may have just the opportunity for you.

Youth and adults can apply through Monday, February 13, to hunt turkeys for the first time under the guidance of experienced National Wild Turkey Federation volunteers. New this year, the adult and youth hunts are all on the same weekend.

If you're interested in learning a new skill, the hunts will take Saturday, April 22, and Sunday, April 23.  All new hunters will need to participate in an orientation, with prices ranging from $5 to $10.  Hunting licenses cost $1 for 12 year olds; $6 for ages 13 through 17; and $27 for hunters 18 and older. All participants will also need to have a valid firearms safety certificate or its equivalent and youth must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
