LeAnn Rimes Enters 30-Day Treatment Facility
One day after celebrating her 30th birthday, LeAnn Rimes announced she will be taking 30 days off to “cope with anxiety and stress” in an in-patient treatment facility. The singer voluntarily entered the facility on Wednesday (August 28) with full support from her husband, actor Eddie Cibrian.
“This is just a time for me to emotionally check out for a second and take care of myself and come back in 30 days as the best 30-year-old woman I can be,” Rimes tells People in a statement released Thursday morning.
“All the things in my life will be there when I get out, but you know what? I’m hoping they’re not going to affect me as much,” she says. “I’ll have the tools to know how to deal with them.”
Her publicist stressed that the focus of her treatment will be on developing better coping mechanisms. Marcel Pariseau tells People that Rimes is not seeking treatment for an eating disorder or substance abuse. The singer is a frequent target of paparazzi and tabloid chasers who chastise her for being thin.
“My wife is the most remarkable and courageous woman I know,” Cibrian says in the statement. “I am so proud of her for having the strength to finally take some time for herself. I will be with her every step of the way.”
The unnamed facility will allow Rimes breaks to perform the six September tour dates she has scheduled during the 30-day period. Pariseau says Rimes will report back to the facility after each weekend. Her new album ‘Spitfire’ is expected to be released next spring.
