I wake up early, and I'm usually up on social media when I see the April Fools' Day pranks start showing up. The typical whale spotting in Lake Superior, or like Bigfoot showing up in the background of a photo in a post. Businesses sometimes get in on the fun, and Kwik Trip has been known to be playful on its social media page. But this year's April Fools' Day joke isn't so cut and dry.

This posted today that they will be starting to ship out Chicken Dunker Donuts. So it's like a chicken tender breaded donut? The funny thing is, people actually got excited about this, and after they realized it was a joke, they were disappointed.

The comment section is showing just how creative Kwik Trip has been with some of its flavors and combinations over the years. They do have blueberry dunkers, so would chicken dunkers be that far off? Not to mention, they are really pushing their chicken with a chicken mascot going on a Midwest tour. That's no joke.

Last year, Kwik Trip announced gas station roller dog flavored potato chips. Everyone thought they were joking, but some say they weren't and posted pictures of the actual product in stores.

On April Fools' Day 2024, Kwik Trip teamed up with Marcus Theater's president, Greg Marcus, to announce that they were offering full-length movies at gas pumps.

LOOK: See how much gasoline cost the year you started driving

To find out more about how has the price of gas changed throughout the years, Stacker ran the numbers on the cost of a gallon of gasoline for each of the last 84 years. Using data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (released in April 2020), we analyzed the average price for a gallon of unleaded regular gasoline from 1976 to 2020 along with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for unleaded regular gasoline from 1937 to 1976, including the absolute and inflation-adjusted prices for each year.

Read on to explore the cost of gas over time and rediscover just how much a gallon was when you first started driving.
