Country fans have seen Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood sing "The Fighter" at a couple of awards shows already; they've seen Urban sing it solo and with a special guest or two. But the country stars' rendition of the hit song at the 2017 CMT Music Awards was unlike any performance they've given thus far.

Urban and Underwood's performance of "The Fighter" during Wednesday night's (June 7) awards ceremony was similar sonically to the solo performances of the song that Urban has given: stripped back and slowed down. Alone onstage underneath a pink-ish spotlight, Urban sang the song's opening verse before Underwood -- situated across the stage from Urban and under a spotlight of her own -- came in with her pieces of the chorus.

Near the end of "The Fighter," Underwood and Urban spend the song up to its original tempo, as a pulsing beat and fiddle added instrumentation. Readers can press play above to watch the performance.

Urban and Underwood were the biggest winners at the 2017 CMT Music Awards: In addition to their "The Fighter" video receiving Collaborative Video of the Year, Urban won Video of the Year, Male Video of the Year and Social Superstar -- the most honors of the night. Underwood, meanwhile, also took home Female Video of the Year.
