Sad news came Sunday to the world of country music.  Joe Diffie has passed away due to complications related to COVID-19.  He was 61.

Joe was diagnosed with the virus last week.  He was scheduled to be in the Northland this summer as part of the Taste Of Duluth weekend at Bayfront Festival Park.  We were all looking forward to Joe taking the stage on July 24.

Diffie, a member of the Grand Ole Opry for 25 years, had more than 20 top 10 country hits, five of which went to No. 1 (“Home,” “If the Devil Danced (In Empty Pockets,” “Third Rock from the Sun,” “Pickup Man” and “Bigger Than the Beatles”). Two of his 13 albums went platinum and another two were certified gold.
