And the news that was released late last week isn’t helping matters any. According to a report from Affordable Dentures and Implants says that inflation has made things even tougher for The Tooth Fairy.

The company says that in Minnesota, Mr./Ms. Fairy has to pay out on average of $4.32 per tooth. That is slightly lower than what he is paying out in other states around the country, where the average tooth goes for $4.58.

The swing from state to state is pretty vast, children in Washington DC are getting nearly six bucks per tooth, at $5.88 per tooth, while Oregon is the state with the lowest payout for teeth and just under two bucks per tooth at $1.96.

Most parents in Minnesota say that their kids are getting twice as much as they did when they were kids. Parents in the state say that The Tooth Fairy has told them he is feeling pressure to keep paying higher rates.

The dental group says they talked 4,000 families around the country to come to their totals per state.

The Tooth Fairy is paying a little more per tooth in Iowa at $4.47 per tooth. While kids in the Dakotas are getting less, North Dakota kids at only getting $2.92 while South Dakotas youngsters are finding $3.85 under their pillows. Wisconsin parents report their kids are getting $3.93 for each of their teeth they leave for The Tooth Fairy.

These numbers are certainly a lot higher than the quarter or fifty cents I found under my pillow all those years ago.
