You know what I absolutely do NOT need? Another reason to be creeped out driving down a dark, empty road at night. And yet, here we are.

I stumbled upon this list of the most haunted roads in America, and apparently, we don't have to travel very far to find some seriously creepy ones. Wisconsin and Illinois both made the list, which is a little too close for comfort if you ask me.

We're talking lonely dirt roads, creepy bridges with tragic histories, and backroads with stories that'll make you think twice about taking the shortcut home after dark.

Even if you don't believe in ghosts, you know EXACTLY what I'm talking about  when you're driving down an empty stretch of highway late at night. It can really mess with your head. Every shadow looks suspicious.

Now, throw in REAL stories of mysterious figures standing along the road and strange lights glowing in the trees? Nope. Nope. NOPE.

I love a good scary story as much as the next person, but I'd also like to make it home without spending the entire drive convinced something is lurking in my back seat.

But if you’re into that kind of thing or just want to see how brave you actually are, you've got to check out where these are.
