A Forgotten Ticket Could Be Worth $1M in Minnesota
A routine stop at a Minnesota convenience store last fall may have quietly created a millionaire. Nearly eight months later, one winning ticket is still unclaimed, and the clock is continuing to count down.
A $258 Million Powerball Jackpot Has Minnesotans Watching Closely
The Powerball jackpot is currently sitting at $258 million for the Saturday, June 13, 2026, drawing. And while most of us in Minnesota would agree that's a large amount of money, it's well below Powerball's massive $1.787 billion prize, which was won on Sept. 6, 2025, in Missouri and Texas.
The Powerball lottery has been around for a long time-- it just celebrated its 30th anniversary a few years ago, in April of 2022-- and has given away a LOT of money. According to the official Powerball website, since its creation in 1992, Powerball has raised $27 billion for "good causes supported by lotteries," the site says.

The Powerball lottery is currently played here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes along with 43 other states, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico. But not all states have had the same number of winners. Due to their large populations, it makes sense that states like California and New York have had a decent share of Powerball winners.
Recent Minnesota Lottery Wins Show a Hot Streak Across the State
But when it comes to winning the Powerball, don't sleep on the Land of 10,000 Lakes. In fact, the Minnesota Lottery announced that on June 2nd, a lucky Minnesotan who purchased a Powerball ticket at a Speedway in Woodbury had won $50,000.
However, that amount pales in comparison to the $500,000 jackpot a player won on a $20 Fortune scratch game sold at Cub Foods in Brooklyn Park on June 9th. Or the $200,000 jackpot a player won on a $10 Lucky Lines Diamond Multiplier scratch ticket sold at Food N Fuel in Worthington also on June 9th!

Unclaimed $1 Million Powerball Ticket Still Waiting in Minnesota
Did you know there's an unclaimed Powerball ticket that was sold here in Minnesota that still hasn't been claimed yet? That's right, according to the Minnesota Lottery, that $1 million ticket was sold at Casey’s General Store on Main Street in Sherburn for the October 25th, 2025, Powerball drawing. But just who bought it?
The prize has not been claimed. In Minnesota, prize claims must be submitted within one (1) year of the drawing date. Minnesota Lottery prizes above $50,000 must be claimed in person at Minnesota Lottery headquarters in Roseville.
Finding out *who* won that prize, though, and any other big lottery prizes, is now a little trickier in the North Star State, thanks to a new law that went into effect in September of 2021. According to the Minnesota Lottery, the 2021 law now allows lottery winners of cash prizes greater than $10,000 to keep their names—and their cities—private, unless they explicitly opt in to publicity.
Is it YOUR ticket? Those winning numbers were 2, 12, 22, 39, 67, and the Powerball was 15. The Power Play® multiplier was 2.
Powerball says the overall odds of winning ANY prize are just 1 in 24.9 (which is pretty good, right?), but the odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million. It doesn't hurt to dream, though, right?
