Viral Mac And Cheese Craze Now Headed To Minnesota This Fall
Minnesota’s about to get a whole lot cheesier— and we mean that in the best way possible. A wildly popular mac and cheese bar is set to open its very first location in our fair state this fall, and comfort food fans (yours truly included) are already drooling.
It seems like the Land of 10,000 Lakes has been plagued by the continuing news of longtime restaurants closing, like this classic in Minneapolis that had been in business for over 50 years, which permanently closed earlier this summer. Then there was the story about the longtime Minnesota business that had been operating for over 72 years, which will close for good this year as well.
More Popular Chains Expanding Across Minnesota in 2025
Of course, there *have* been other restaurants that have announced that they're opening new locations here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes this year, too. (Looking at you, Dave's Hot Chicken, which announced plans to open up to 18 locations throughout the state, including cities like Rochester and St. Cloud.)
There's also the Chick N Max chain, which said it was eyeing Minnesota as part of its development goals to add as many as 50 locations to its pipeline across the region in the next two years.

Back in June, we heard that Minnesota happens to be front and center on the expansion list for the Chicken Salad Chick chain, which is looking to add multiple locations in the Twin Cities metro yet this year.
Viral Mac and Cheese Chain Opening at Mall of America This Fall
And now, a new mac and cheese place has announced that it is opening its first-ever location here in the North Star State this fall. That was the word from the Mall of America (MOA), which said earlier this week that Roni's Mac Bar will be opening a location here later this fall.
An MOA release described Roni's Mac Bar as a 'wildly popular, customizable mac and cheese restaurant':
Known as “the viral mac and cheese place,” Roni’s Mac Bar has become a social media sensation with over 900,000 fans on TikTok alone, thanks to its visually stunning, cheese-loaded dishes and enthusiastic fanbase.
MOA went on to say that Roni's Mac Bar, which was founded in Waco, Texas in 2022, has taken comfort food to the next level with a build-your-own concept. 'Customers can fully customize their bowls of gooey, cheesy goodness by choosing from a wide variety of cheeses, meats, toppings, and sauces, offering countless possible combinations,' MOS noted. It's also known for its popular grilled cheese sandwiches, which have also become fan favorites.
Roni’s Mac Bar Expands Outside Texas With New Minnesota Spot
The first-ever Minnesota Roni's Mac Bar will be located at MOA on Level 3, South and is set to open later this fall. Right now, Roni's website says that it currently has 11 different locations in Alabama, Iowa, Missouri, New Mexico, as well as two locations in Utah and five locations in Texas.
