An important part of any romantic relationship is... communication. Just kidding, I mean, it is super important but that's not what we're here to talk about. Another important part of a romantic relationship is physical touch, and today we're specifically talking about kissing. Which is something that, apparently, Minnesotans are bad at.

The Kissing Study

There's a company called The Matchmaking Company that did a study on kissing across the country. They looked at many factors and discovered a few different things.

One that really surprised me was that 74% of Americans kiss their partner every day. 26% of Americans only kiss their partner a few times a week or less! I couldn't believe that because in my mind kissing is one of many facets of a good relationship.

The other thing that surprised me is just how bad Minnesotans are at kissing.

Are Minnesotans Bad Kissers?

The main focus of the study was to rank each state based on how good their residents are at kissing. In order to determine this ranking, they looked at six factors:

The average number of people a person has kissed.

How each person would rate their own kissing ability.

If people enjoyed kissing or another form of physical affection more.

The percentage of people who are regularly complimented on their kissing ability.

People's satisfaction with kissing other people in their state.

How comfortable they feel kissing in public.

There were no participants in this study from Vermont, North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, Wyoming, or Alaska so we don't know where they would land in the kissing rankings.

After all of the factors were analyzed, The Matchmaking Company determined that the number one best state for kissers is... Ohio? Hey, if you're from Ohio, don't take offense to that, I just really didn't expect Ohio to take the top spot.

On the other end, the worst state for kissers is one that I assumed would be up towards the top. California apparently has the worst kissers in the country.

Minnesota didn't do much better, though. We came in as the 4th worst kissers in the US. Yikes.
