FUN FACT: There is a building in Minnesota that releases over 140,000 bugs each year.

If you've ever dealt with a bug infestation, your skin might be crawling in disgust by that fact above.  But putting these bugs out in the world is actually a good thing...and this year, you can help release them!

Over 100,000 Bugs Will Be Released at the Mall of America in Minnesota

The Mall of America has quite a few amazing features - Nickelodeon Universe has 27 rides, several sharks call the mall home (#NotJoking), and it was built on the old Metropolitan Stadium for the Minnesota Twins and Vikings.

But one of the most fascinating facts for me is that there are 30,000 LIVE plants and trees inside the Mall of America.

Crawling around those 30,000 plants and trees are super tiny ladybugs.  If you see one while you are drinking your Caribou Coffee at the spot inside Nickelodeon Universe, DON'T squish it!  It was put there on purpose.

Why Are Bugs Crawling Around The Plants At The Mall of America?

Every year, during Earth Month, the Mall of America does its part to help out our world.  One of the ways that they participate in this action is by letting ladybugs act as a natural pesticide for the plants that are cared for inside the mall.

This Earth Day, you too have a chance to do something extra special for all of those plants that are living inside the Mall of America.
