Have you ever been in a situation where you had to call 9-1-1?  I did the other day for a woman who was driving on the highway in Minnesota.  She was texting, had kids in the backseat, and had multiple times where she was extremely close to either hitting a car or going off the side of the road and smacking a sign.  I tried honking at her...but as you can imagine, that did NOT go well.  9-1-1 was a huge help in that situation and hopefully, the kids I saw in that car are safer.

Minnesota dispatchers answer about 200,000 9-1-1 calls every year.  Fingers crossed you are never put in a situation where 9-1-1 needs to be dialed, but if you ever hear "Code Brown" while shopping in Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, or throughout the United States, leave the store and dial 9-1-1 immediately.

If You Hear "Code Brown" While Shopping in Minnesota + Illinois, Leave and Call 9-1-1

There are over 4.600 Walmart stores in the United States and if this is a go-to shopping destination for you, listen carefully while you are walking through the aisles and checking off our shopping list.  Every day, Walmart employees use a few codes to alert staff about urgent and scary situations.  A few of the codes will require you to leave the store immediately.

Code Brown and Other Secrets Revealed About Minnesota Walmart Stores

Next time you go to Walmart, listen really carefully to what is being said over the intercom. Secret codes are being shared overhead for employees so they are aware of specific situations happening in the store. If I were you, I'd look through the list below published by Shopping B.Xplained and be aware of what those codes are because a few are pretty serious situations...and you should try to evacuate the store ASAP, if possible.

Do You Know The Evacuation Plan For Your Workplace?

A few years ago, I was in the middle of my show on Y-105FM and talking away into a microphone at Townsquare Media in Rochester, Minnesota, when the studio door flung open, and one of my co-workers yelled "Get Out Now".

If you haven't noticed, construction tends to be a thing that is a constant factor in downtown Rochester.  I've been working at Townsquare Media since 2017 and up until a few months ago, construction has been happening outside our building.

If you are a fan of my show and you have been listening closely, there were probably times when you could hear the construction crews outside of our building as 4th Street SW and 2nd Ave. SW were demolished.  It was so bad at times that my microphone and computers in the studio would move when the big machines hit the ground.

Why Did We Have To Evacute Townsquare Media in Rochester, Minnesota?

When large equipment is digs in a small space, accidents can happen.  I don't know who did it, or where it was hit exactly but the screaming to "Get Out Now" was due to a gas line that was cut.

Thankfully, everything was ok.  Most of my co-workers left for the day when we had to evacuate.  "Some" of us stuck around and waited for the all-clear because...well, I had a show to do for you.
