Vietnam War 50th Anniversary Commemoration Program At MOA
BLOOMINGTON (WJON News) -- The 50th Anniversary Vietnam War Commemoration will be held at the Mall of America this weekend.
Several events have been planned for Thursday through Saturday.
Brad Lindsey is the Commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs. He says they'll be utilizing a lot of space at the mall.
We're taking over the Mall of America for those three days. We'll have the American Veterans Traveling Tribute Vietnam Memorial wall, a scaled-down version of the Vietnam Memorial out in D.C. will be set up during the whole time, we'll have historical displays from the Minnesota Military Veterans Museum, up in the theater area we're going to have screenings of a documentary shown.
Lindsey says they want Vietnam Veterans to come and record their personal stories.
We'll have some folks out from Washington D.C. who will be capturing the veteran's stories of their time in service up in the resource area. So if we have veterans who would like to participate in that it'd be great to have them because once we lose the veterans we lose those stories.
Some of the highlights include a live recording of the Minnesota Military Radio Program on Thursday at noon, The Minnesota National Guard 34th Infantry Division "Red Bull" Band playing at 10:30 and 11:45 a.m. on Friday, and the Commemoration program with speakers at 11:00 a.m. on Friday.

Lindsey says about 94,000 Vietnam Veterans are living in Minnesota.
