Prison Sentence For Rochester Woman Who Ran Over Her Boyfriend

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester woman is being sent to prison for running over her boyfriend with her car.

39-year-old Jolene Schultz, who entered a guilty plea last fall to a second-degree assault charge, was sentenced this morning in Olmsted County Court. Under the terms of her plea agreement, another felony assault charge and two misdemeanor domestic assault charges were dismissed.

The criminal complaint against Schultz indicates she was arrested in February of last year and alleged that she intentionally struck her boyfriend with her vehicle after they engaged in a verbal altercation at her apartment. The court document stated that the vehicular assault occurred after the victim left her residence and was waiting for a ride in a nearby parking lot.

According to the Rochester Police reports on the incident, the man reported that he saw Schultz drive into the parking lot and then "gunned" her car in his direction. He stated that he attempted to jump out of the way but was still struck by the vehicle, which ran over the lower half of his body. The man also told police that Schultz then got out of her car and punched him "numerous times with a closed fist in the face."

When police responded to reports of the incident, they found the victim in the 4100 block of East Frontage Road along Highway 52 with rips on his pants, along with bruising and road rash on his legs. The criminal complaint says he was then transported to a local medical facility to be treated for a broken ankle.

Schultz was handed a sentence of 18 months in prison today for her conviction. She was given credit for the 29 days that she has already served in jail since her arrest.
