Hastings, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Minneapolis has man admitted to a criminal vehicular homicide charge in connection with the death of a Catholic Priest from Burnsville who was struck by a vehicle while riding a bike along a busy southern Twin Cities highway a little over two years ago.

28-year-old Trejean Derrell Curry is scheduled to be sentenced next month in Dakota County Court. The plea deal calls for a stayed prison sentence with up to five years on probation and some jail time.

The criminal complaint in the case stated that Rosemount police responded to the fatal crash on the afternoon of October 25, 2021. They found that a car driven by Curry had collided with a bicyclist on Dakota County Road 42 in a crash that took the life of 73-year-old Reverend Dennis Dempsey.

The court document says the investigation determined Dempsey was riding his bike on the shoulder of the roadway when he was hit. The charges also stated that skid marks found at the scene indicated Curry, who had a revoked driver's license at the time, was also driving on the shoulder of the highway.
