One Theory Why So Many Minnesotans Are Voting Early
This is a big deal. The Presidential Election. It happens every 4 years, and here we are. This is a huge election year with not only the presidential election, but many local and state elections are happening.
There has also been a record number of people voting early and absentee. Why is that?
Both campaigns have been really pushing their supporters to vote early. There are some advantages to voting early. Obviously, if you are not going to be near your polling place on election day, you can vote early or absentee. This year, more than ever, people don't want to just forego voting if they won't be available on election day, they want their voice heard, and that is through their right to vote.
If you listen and believe the polls so far, you see that the presidential race is very tight. So that's another reason to make sure to vote. Make sure your vote is counted for your preferred candidate. And just putting this out there, if there are voter turnouts everywhere else like there has been in Minnesota, it COULD be another one of those times when a popular vote doesn't coincide with the electoral vote. Because no matter how many people vote, you still have as many electoral votes as you have. That doesn't change. Usually the popular vote goes with the electoral vote, but not always, as we have seen a few times in the last few elections.
From KARE 11:
So, the theory is this. More people are voting early because this is an important election to more people than previous elections. People are very passionate about their preferred candidate. You can also avoid longer lines by voting early. And maybe bring some family members along who aren't able to vote yet, but want to see the process.
Election day is tomorrow, if not voting early, then please get out and vote tomorrow. You can check your polling place here if you are unsure as to where you go to vote in your area.
