ONCE IN A LIFETIME EXPERIENCE

If you love viewing the night sky, there is a very special event coming that could be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for star-gazers everywhere.

Split Rock Lighthouse is partnering with the Marshall W. Alworth Planetarium to host 'Dark Sky Night'. 'Dark Sky Night' will be taking place on Wednesday evening, August 7th, from 8 pm to 11 pm.

PRESENTATION ON NORTHERN LIGHTS

The evening is going to start with a presentation on the Northern Lights by Bob King. Bob is going to talk about what causes the Northern Lights, and their forms and discuss the best ways to view them.

After the presentation on the 'Northern Lights', the planetarium staff will be setting up some telescopes so everyone can enjoy viewing the evening sky. There will also be live tours of the galaxy.

What do you do if it is a cloudy night? Don't worry. If the sky is clouded over, there will still be activities and digital sky tours, so you will still be able to learn what to look for once you get back to your own backyard viewing when things clear up.
