Summer in the land of 10,000 lakes means sunshine, mosquitoes, and outdoor music. When you are about to go to an outdoor summer concert, there are some things you can prepare for and bring with you, but not always get inside the venue. Bug spray, signs, chairs, and umbrellas are some examples of things that you can have in the car, but aren't allowed to bring into most venues.  There is one item, in my opinion, that is often overlooked and never packed when going to an outdoor concert in Minnesota, that you CAN bring in with you.

The one item that I ALWAYS bring to an outdoor concert seems to be the most overlooked by others in my group, all hail the can koozie.

Practical & Comfortable

A can koozie is a great concert companion during the summertime. It keeps your hands from getting wet from the condensation, and it also makes holding your beverage more bearable.

You Learn About The Person Holding It

This is a judgment-free koozie zone, but a can koozie can also make a statement. Most koozies I see are funny, some are serious, while others are just plain. Most of all can koozies seem to be forgotten about when you are gearing up to head out to an outdoor concert.

Leave Them In The Car

My wife knows when it's officially summer at our house when she starts to find koozies in the cars. I usually drop 2 or 3 in each vehicle, so when we DO go out to a show, or over to a friend's for an evening fire, we're not without one, and it is truly Minnesota Nice to have and offer up a spare for someone in the group.

The next time you are headed out to The Ledge for a show, or one of the many outdoor festivals we have going on this summer like:

  • Firefest
  • Pierz Freedom Fest
  • Winstock
  • WeFest
  • Wood-fired Wednesdays
  • Summertime by Geroge

Remember to grab a koozie.
