Parker McCollum Shared His Baby’s Name, and It’s SO Texas!
Parker McCollum and his wife Hallie Ray Light are currently expecting their first child — a baby boy — and ahead of the birth, the singer is serving up some details on the name they've picked out.
In an interview with the Spencer Graves Show, McCollum revealed that the name he and his selected is Major Yancey McCollum — a fittingly Texan name for a child whose dad hails from the Lone Star state.
The singer says he got the idea for the name after watching highlights of old championship college football games.
"I saw [former Texas Longhorns quarterback] Major Applewhite, and I was like, 'Damn, Major McCollum would be sick,'" McCollum explains.
Yancey is the singer's middle name, and from the sounds of the interview, it seems like passing it along to the next generation was his wife's idea. "That's what she wants. She likes Major Yancey," McCollum adds.
The singer married Light in March of 2022, and they first shared the news that they were expecting a baby back in February. They made their announcement with a subtle beach shot of the two kissing, Light cradling her baby bump.
