Missy Robertson Celebrates Jase After Hard 2023: ‘Joy Comes From the Lord’
Last year was a very hard one for Duck Dynasty's Missy and Jase Robertson. Their daughter, Mia, underwent a 15th surgery to repair her cleft lip, and the couple's daughter-in-law was experiencing a heartbreaking tragedy that affected the whole family.
Jase's birthday (Aug. 16) came and went without much fanfare, and a year later, Missy reflects on that and celebrates another year for her husband.
"Is it possible to have joy and sorrow at the same time," she asks on Instagram. "Last year on Jase Robertson’s 54th birthday, we were not able to celebrate. It was barely even acknowledged because our family was going through multiple levels of heartache and suffering with more on the way."
In a very vulnerable post, she acknowledges that even in the depths of their pain, God has been so faithful to their family — that their shared faith is what they have remained grounded in.
"God was and is so very faithful to each and every one of us," Missy notes. "Joy comes from the Lord and He never left us."
"So yes, joy can coexist with sorrow."
With a compilation of photos of her husband doing everyday life, she requests one thing for Jase's 55th birthday:
"Would you please join me in celebrating him?" she writes. "He never asks for anything, especially a party, so he’s going to eat a big steak and play a little poker with his buddies.”
This year has been brighter for the Robertson family. Earlier this month, fans learned that Mia's 16th cleft lip surgery was successful and that her recovery was swift, and she's already settling into her junior year at Lipscomb University.
Missy and Jase also just became grandparents again, as their oldest son, Reed, and his wife, Brighton, welcomed daughter Frances into the world on Aug. 9.
