I was getting some gas at a Kwik Trip in Duluth the other day, and after going into the store and walking back to my car, I was startled by a loud noise coming from somewhere on the building.

Being a curious person, I had to figure out what the sound was and where it was coming from. After a short investigation, I found the culprit, and it might surprise you what its purpose is.

This Screeching Sound Was Not a Bird, But It Was About Birds

The sound coming from a little green box mounted on the side of the building was intense. It sounded like a prehistoric bird fight, and it was LOUD.

It turns out this box is a device used to scare away nuisance birds, like gulls. The BirdXPeller Pro is a sonic bird deterrent that randomly plays digital sounds of real bird distress calls and predator cries.

From what I saw, it works. I was about ready to run for my life when I heard it—and the few gulls nearby took flight immediately, clearing the area fast.
