Twin Ports Restaurant Offers Some State Fair Favorites On Their Menu
The Minnesota State Fair is over for another year but according to reports from fair goers and vendors, it was a successful season. One fair attendee Dana Bain said to FOX9 "It definitely met [my] expectations. I love the new food and now that the fair is back after COVID-19, I’m just excited that we can come again and be with everybody."
As far as attendance goes at this year's Minnesota State Fair some days attendance came close to record-breaking numbers as they saw before COVID, but no new attendance records were broken. One of the vendors named Dan Runyon who has been running Juanita’s Fajitas at the fair for 32 years; said to FOX9:
The weekends were right about as strong as could be, and It’s still the best fair in the country.
But have no fear if you are someone that enjoys some deep-fried delights like you can get at the Minnesota State Fair, McKenzies Bar and Grill in Hermantown is here for you! Starting this past August they decided to add some fried favorites to their menu. According to their Facebook page, they have " Fried faves with everything but the stick!"
So what exactly do they offer? According to the owners they have successfully mimicked the State Fair’s cheese curd recipe and also offer fried pickles, donuts, and tacos; plus mac and cheese bites. Oh man, my mouth is watering just thinking about these delicious foods. And the best news is they have decided to keep these items on their menu full-time!
General Manager, Larissa Thompson said to FOX21: "We introduced a new menu. We’ve always had State Fair recipe cheese curds on our menu and they were so popular so we added some new fried foods. We thought we’d kind of put together some new items that are currently on our menu and advertise them for the State Fair. People don’t have to travel two hours to get them and they can have them here anytime."
