Have You Heard These Musical Odes To Kwik Trip?
Whether you're on the Minnesota side of the border or in the home state of this iconic Wisconsin-based regional brand, Kwik Trip has developed a pretty sizable cult following.
There are a few brands Minnesotans and Wisconsinites have really elevated to a certain status above all others. And, honestly, the first three brands that come to mind pretty much cover all of your basic needs.
With their headquarters in Eau Claire, there's home improvement retailer Menards. Need lumber? Check. Light fixtures? Check. Holiday decorations? Check. A flannel shirt and some pizzas? Check and check.
Then there's Fleet Farm, with its headquarters in Marshifeld. They do have some crossover with Menards, but the "Man's Mall" can get you outfitted for hunting and fishing, you can grab bulk containers of delicious candy and snacks, get new tires for your ride, and don't forget about Toyland once the holiday season rolls around.
Finally, there's Kwik Trip. Another Wisconsin-based brand loved on both sides of the border. They're technically a "convenience store", but let's be real. They go way beyond that. They're part restaurant, part bakery, part coffee shop, part grocery store; and oh by the way, you can also get gas, car washes, and other normal convenience store stuff.
With all of those things they offer and that trademark friendliness and "See you next time", there are plenty of reasons a lot of people love Kwik Trip.
That love has actually inspired some people to write songs about the brand. While neither of them are brand new, you might not have heard them before.
I actually stumbled onto one of them by accidentally typing "Kwik Trip" into the Spotify search bar, thinking it was the search bar for my phone's apps. That search actually turned up a song! That's one of a few songs out there about the iconic brand.
This song, called "God Bless Kwik Trip", is a country love song to all of the things you can find at a Kwik Trip. Written and performed by Wisconsin-based singer Dan Lepien, his ode to Kwik Trip is one of his two most-streamed songs on Spotify.
Balancing things out, we have a song with more of a hip-hop feel from across the border in Minnesota. Minneapolis-based artist JamesG, also known as jamesmakesmusic, put together this short, but sweet tune about being able to "get a little bit of everything" by making a trip to the Midwest staple, Kwik Trip.
