It's no shock that Minnesotan's are generous with their time and money, and last week we proved it with a record-breaking day of giving in the state.

Born in 2009, Minnesota's "Give to The Max" day is a one-day campaign to bring awareness to and raise money for a wide range of non-profit organizations throughout Minnesota.

Donors from Minnesota and beyond rallied to raise an astounding $37 million during this year’s Give to the Max Day. Smashing last year’s $34.2 million total, this 16th annual giving event set a new record for Minnesota nonprofits and schools.

The donations poured in from across all 87 Minnesota counties, every U.S. state, and 36 countries, showcasing a worldwide community of support.

Despite national trends suggesting donation slowdowns, Minnesota bucked the trend with its highest total yet. "While more than $37 million raised is an incredible achievement, it's just the beginning of the story," said Jake Blumberg, GiveMN’s executive director.

He goes on to say, "The true power of yesterday’s generosity lies in the countless lives and communities that will be transformed across Minnesota."

Adding to the excitement were Golden Ticket prize grants, where surprise bonuses totaling $100,000 sweetened the day for nonprofits. Every 15 minutes, donors had a chance to win, and the grand prize—this year’s Super-Sized Golden Ticket of $10,000—went to Our Justice in Minneapolis.

If you missed the big day, don’t worry! GiveMN.org is open year-round for donations, fundraisers, and more. With over $430 million raised since 2009, this online hub for generosity continues to make giving easier than ever.
