While Minnesota's state parks are amazing to visit all year long, summertime is the most popular season for most people.
While the scenery is great and the weather is (generally) cooperative, summertime is also bug season. Biting flies, gnats, ticks, and those pesky mosquitoes are among some of the bug pests that can really put a damper on outdoor fun at Minnesota's state parks.
Thankfully, there are some parks where you can enjoy the experience without being harassed by bugs, at least at the levels you might run into across most of the state.
The Minnesota DNR recently highlighted 5 of the state's 64 state parks that offer the opportunity to escape the bugs while still enjoying the park. Whether it be due to geologic and meteorological conditions, the experts say these 5 parks are the best places to avoid the creepy-crawly or flying pests.
