Minnesota City Officials Getting Death Threats Over Rezoning of Pet Cemetery
A rezoning notice was posted about a plot of land in Hermantown, and now city officials are getting death threats because of it.
The notice is regarding a property on Sunnyview Road and a rezoning request made by the property owner who inherited the land and wants to rezone the land for residential land.

The land was once home to "Brand Pet Cemetery", but according to Joe Wicklund, Communications & Community Engagement Director for the City of Hermantown, the privately owned land hasn't been actively used as a cemetery in 20+ years and there are no records on how many pets are buried on the property.
The notice was reposted on a few local pet groups and on other social media channels, but without any other information or context, and it sparked anger within those communities and Wicklund says that city officials have gotten death threats due to the sharing of the rezoning notice.
FOX 21 is reporting that two pet owners have come forward to access the site, but with no records and the land sitting unkept for years, you can't blame the landowner for wanting to do something with the 2-acres, and to hurl death threats at city workers for doing their job, and frankly doing more than they are probably required to do, is ridiculous, these people need to take a chill pill and learn the facts before acting like a fool.
I'm more worried about what happens after it is rezoned and a home or homes are built on that property, will they be notified that there once was a pet cemetery on the property, because I've read that book and seen that movie, and I wouldn't want any part of that!
