A Legendary Film Trilogy Is Returning To Minnesota Screens
Each year, another beloved film franchise from the 80s, 90s, or early 2000s hits a milestone birthday. Time keeps marching on, and now even movies from the dawn of the new millennium are celebrating their 25th anniversaries.
A Fellowship Turns 25 in Minnesota
The latest franchise to reach that landmark is The Lord of the Rings. The first film, The Fellowship of the Ring, officially turns 25 in 2026, and Marcus Theatres is marking the occasion with a special passport that lets fans experience all three films on the big screen once again.

The trilogy also includes The Two Towers and The Return of the King, a cinematic journey that earned a staggering 30 Academy Award nominations and took home 17 Oscars. That legendary run is now returning to Minnesota theaters for a limited time, proving that some stories never truly leave Middle Earth.

One Passport To Rule Them All in Minnesota
Marcus is bringing back one of its popular movie passports, giving fans access to all three films for one low price while offering flexibility on showtimes. The Lord of the Rings Passport is on sale now and includes multiple Minnesota locations, including Duluth, Rochester, St. Cloud, and theaters throughout the Twin Cities. Even Frodo would approve of those travel options.
How The Minnesota Screenings Work
For $29, fans can watch all three films across three weeks in January. Each movie will be shown over three days, allowing passport holders to pick the dates and times that work best. No need to rush like the Black Riders are behind you.
If committing to the full trilogy feels like carrying the One Ring for too long, individual tickets are also available. You can still celebrate the anniversary of The Fellowship of the Ring without pledging yourself to the entire quest.
