Members of the public that use the Duluth Skywalk System to get around the downtown area will have to navigate elsewhere Wednesday night.

In a message to members of the downtown community, the organization Downtown Duluth shared news Wednesday afternoon that the city's skywalk system would be closed at 7 pm Wednesday due to the winter storm continuing to impact the area.

Snowfall is expected to get lighter through the afternoon hours Wednesday, but forecasts suggest it will get heavier again Wednesday night into Thursday morning.

A blizzard warning remains in effect for the Duluth area and North Shore through Thursday, with Duluth in line to see 12-17 more inches of snow between noon Wednesday and 6 pm Thursday. This, on top of what has already fallen around the area - which has been reported to be between 6-10 inches in some areas around the Twin Ports.
