Duluth’s ‘Name A Snowplow’ Finalists Announced, Voting Now Open

Late last month, the City of Duluth rolled out its second annual 'Name A Snowplow' contest, aiming to come up with a name for a city plow truck ahead of the winter season.

Just like last year, the 2025 Duluth Name A Snowplow contest offers a little prize package of sorts to the person who submitted the winning name. That package includes:

• Getting to take a photo with the newly-named plow and its crew
• Getting to ride in the newly-named plow in the 2025 Christmas City of the North Parade on November 21
• "Unlimited bragging rights," as the city explains on its website.

The submission window for name ideas closed at the end of October, and city staff narrowed down the submissions to 10 finalists. Here are the 10 finalist names and how to vote:

While there are some good choices, I personally feel like last year's field of finalists was a stronger group of names overall. You can see last year's finalists below.

The voting window opened on November 3 and goes through the end of the day on November 7. You can vote here until voting wraps up on Friday.

After voting closes, the results will be tabulated, the winner will be notified on November 10, and the newly-named plow will make its debut during the Christmas City of the North Parade in Duluth on Friday, November 21.
