Viral Japanese Arcade Trend Lands At Mall Of America
The popularity of Japanese-style arcades has exploded across the United States. Instead of traditional video games, these arcades focus on rows of claw machines filled with plushies, candy, and other trendy prizes that look straight out of Tokyo.
Japanese Arcades in Minnesota
Minnesota got its first taste of this trend when Duck Entertainment opened earlier this year in Eagan. The arcade quickly became a hit, drawing huge crowds eager to drop tokens and test their skills. Fans lined up to try and snag the latest LaBuBu figures, and a variety of other plush toys that have become cult favorites among collectors.
Expansion to the Mall of America
Things have gone so well for Duck Entertainment that the company recently announced it will open a second location at the Mall of America. This marks the first arcade of its kind at MOA, and given the mall’s massive foot traffic, it is almost certain to become a popular destination. The new spot will be on Level 3 in the Culinary on North section. While no opening date has been revealed yet, excitement is already building.

What to Expect Inside
The current Eagan location is the largest Japanese-inspired arcade in Minnesota, with more than 100 claw machines offering cute stuffed animals, Japanese candies, and other imports. Families flock there for the bright atmosphere and the thrill of walking away with an armful of prizes.
Along with the games, Duck Entertainment serves bubble tea, Korean shaved ice, and other sweet concessions. No word yet on whether the Mall of America location will feature the same menu, but fans are hoping the food and drink options will carry over.
