Another stretch of Superior Street is on the schedule for some significant work to be done, and the City of Duluth is providing updates and looking for feedback ahead of the work getting underway.

The Downtown Duluth stretch of Superior Street saw a multi-year reconstruction project that concluded in 2022, with the goal of improving underground utilities and modernizing the surface area to meet modern needs for not only vehicular traffic but also pedestrian and bicycle traffic.

The city is now looking to West Superior Street, spanning 1.65 miles from Carlton Street to West Michigan Street. This is essentially from near the Heritage Center to near M&H.

As explained on the project's website, the road reconstruction is receiving funding from a federal grant program called Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity, or RAISE.

This grant will help in accomplishing a number of things, which include a significant update of underground utilities and the roadway itself, but also to provide updates for things like improved stormwater drainage, updated traffic signaling, improved street lighting, and updates to better-accommodate pedestrians, bicyclists, and other "lightweight human and electronically powered devices" like scooters.

What is the timeline of this project?
