One of my all-time favorite "tourist" activities in Duluth is to hop on board one of the Vista Fleet ships and set sail out onto Lake Superior to get a whole new view of Duluth from the water looking towards the shore versus vice versa all the time looking out at the lake.

When I first moved to Duluth my Mom came to visit and thankfully it was in the summertime so we hopped on the Vista Fleet and had a great time. To this day I have to laugh at the fact my mom took about 30 pictures of the lift bridge, she was absolutely fascinated by it. LOL

The Vista Fleet is celebrating its 64th season and crews have been busy getting both ships ready for a busy season ahead which starts May 5. Katy Rochel, the Brand and Marketing Manager for Vista Fleet told FOX21, “It’s just a really special way to see Duluth from a different perspective. So locals who see Duluth every day and are here it’s really a different way to see and experience the town. And then you also get to learn about a lot of the history that makes Duluth and our port so great."

The two ships consist of The Vista Queen the smaller of the two vessels with the first deck being enclosed with a full bar while the 2nd deck is an open-air observation deck. They also offer a full menu for dinner cruises and special events and a full bar. The second one is the larger Vista Star with two enclosed decks and an open-air observation deck, plus a bar on each deck. Tickets are on sale now.
