2025 Minnesota Deer Hunting Preliminary Deer Harvest Stats Released
While the 2025 firearms deer hunting season isn't completely over across the state, we're getting a look at how the 2025 season compares to last year's deer harvest.
The southern and western portions of Minnesota saw their 2025 firearms deer season wrap up on November 16, while the "100 series" deer permit areas in Northeastern Minnesota and areas 604 in the Brainerd Area, 679 in the Grand Rapids area, and 684 in the Bemidji area have until November 23.
While there are other hunts like the late season in Southeastern Minnesota at the end of November and some other special hunts before the end of the year, the final stages of the "big season" for most firearms hunters is drawing to a close.
Every year, the Minnesota DNR shares harvest statistics for the various deer seasons when everything has wrapped up, but they also offer some preliminary data before the final numbers are tallied.

After a couple of winters in a row that have been easy on the deer population, the outlook for the 2025 season was promising. How has it shaped up?
As of today, 128,759 deer have been harvested in 2025 with a firearms license across Minnesota. This is a raw, preliminary number of deer harvested via firearm this year, and doesn't look at different seasons to date.
That said, this raw number does come in higher than the 124,462 deer taken during the normal firearms season in Minnesota in 2024.
Region-by-region, here's a look at the 2025 Minnesota deer harvest to date:
100-series deer permit areas

Not counting those three 600-series areas, the part of Minnesota in the 100-series permit areas has seen a preliminary deer harvest breakdown as follows:

Places in and around the Twin Cities, as well as places in far Southeastern Minnesota like Rochester, Winona, and Caledonia, are geographically grouped in this part of the state, but carry different deer permit areas. More on those below.

Not counting those 300 and 600-series areas, the part of Minnesota in the 200-series permit areas has seen a preliminary deer harvest breakdown as follows:
