The Minnesota Department of Transportation is replacing the dynamic message signs in parts of Duluth, with night and overnight work on I-35 scheduled through the morning of Thursday, July 12.

According to MnDOT, the following areas of I-35 will impacted by this project:

  • July 9 and July 11 from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. - Single lane closures for both northbound and southbound traffic will occur near the Garfield overpass. The northbound Hwy 535 ramp will also be closed from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
  • July 10 from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. (Thursday morning) – Southbound I-35 will be closed south of the 21st Avenue E interchange. Traffic will be detoured onto London Road and Superior Street.

Dynamic message signs are the signs that have text which can be quickly changed by authorities to inform the public of delays, road conditions, travel times, etc.

You can always visit the Minnesota Department of Transportation website for updated road conditions and updates on road construction across the state.
