An inspection of the current lighting supports in the Highway 61 tunnels will bring lane closures and delays for drivers starting Wednesday, November 6.  Officials with the Minnesota Department of Transportation are working to alert drivers about the project.

During the project, MNDOT crews will inspect the light supports that exist over the center line in both the Silver Creek Cliff and Lafayette Bluff tunnels.  Along with the lane closures, drivers will also encounter temporary signals.  The workers are expected to start the inspections in the Lafayette Bluff tunnel; once complete the work will shift to the Silver Creek tunnel.

Although project timelines are always subject to discovered conditions, weather, and a variety of other factors - MNDOT anticipates that the inspections will be complete by mid-December.
