A project that is projected to have large traffic impacts will get a public meeting from the Minnesota Department of Transportation.  In focus will be the overlay work scheduled to take place on Highway 53 between the Twin Ports and the Iron Range.  Similar to their public meetings held over the past year (since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic), this session on Tuesday, May 25 will happen virtually via a link.

On the agenda for that meeting will be the overlay project scheduled to occur in St. Louis County - near Pike Lake, Twig, and Independence.  The work will happen in both southbound lanes, with all traffic traveling in the northbound lanes.  Due to the busy nature of Highway 53 and particularly since all traffic will be impacted - with the single-lane in each direction situation - the Minnesota Department of Transportation is looking to get as much information out about the work as soon as possible.

Again, the meeting will happen on Tuesday, May 25 - starting at 4:00 PM.  The meeting can be logged in to online via WebEx and a phone call option is also available.  To get the link to the meeting, visit the project website; the call in phone number is also available there.  Additionally, MNDOT will be recording the meeting and placing it on their website for later viewing in the future.
