The races will be a little different this year, but Townsquare Media is proud to present the Grandma's Marathon radio coverage again this year.

This year you can listen to The Northland FAN radio station at 560 AM and 106.5 FM. There will also be a streaming video coverage you can enjoy with WDIO and The Northland FAN used to give you the call of the race. The coverage by TV and Radio will not include the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon, because everyone will be running in waves and it will be an exhibition race, not a running race.

The veteran broadcast team is made up of former Grandma's Marathon/Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon participants and other multi-year veterans of the race broadcast. Anchoring the race from the finish line in Canal Park will be Mark Marette and Stacey James, with Chris Allen providing winner interviews along with many other interviews with runners finishing the race. Racecourse coverage for the full marathon will be with Charlie Mahler and Dick Beardsley in the men's car and Matt Johnson and Carrie Tollefson from the women's car. Nick Cooper will provide multimedia coverage via our social media, station app, and website.

This year's coverage will begin at 6:00 am on Saturday morning June 19th with interviews hosted by Chris Allen with new PR and Marketing Director Zach Scheider, Race Director Greg Haapala, and Finance and Operations Director Linda Hanson. A little different this year, normally the broadcast begins with the Half Marathon. The broadcast will end shortly after the Winner of the Men's and Women's division crosses the line.

You can tune in the Northland FAN 106.5 FM, 560 AM, and online via your smartphone or computer on the website and on the Northland FAN app (which pairs with Apple Carplay & Android Auto, as well as Chromecast and Apple Airplay devices).

The station is also available on Alexa devices, where you can easily listen by saying "Alexa, play Northland Fan" once our skill is activated (instructions here), and on Google Home (instructions here).

Every Townsquare radio station like KOOL 101.7, MIX 108, B105, and Sasquatch 92.1 will all carry updates twice per hour by radio veteran Steve Tanko. Ken Hayes will be the engineer in the studio branching the coverage from the cars and the finish line.

The coverage will also be streamed on the internet by our Media Partner WDIO.

Herbs That Grow Best In The Northland

While flower gardening produces plants that look beautiful and vegetable and fruit gardening results in an ample harvest of produce, there is one gardening type that often gets overlooked - especially in our part of the country: herb gardens. While its true that some types of herbs don't grow so well in our cold climate, there are others that do grow quite well. Here's a look.
