Beloved Northland Haunted Attraction Announces Its Final Season
This is devastating news all around - and even more so if you love Halloween as much as I do. A famous Northland attraction just shared some bittersweet news and my heart dropped when I read it.
The famous Haunted Shack will not return after this year, as announced in an emotional message shared to social media on Tuesday (September 15th) just ahead of spooky season.

If you've been following the haunted attraction at all through the years, this might not be a huge shock. Over the summer, the attraction was put up for sale by the owner.
At the time, the owner shared that it was time for him to move on to other ventures after more than three decades as the man behind the shack, and amid health issues.

The Haunted Shack Closing After This Season - The End?
In a long and bittersweet message, owner Pat Stojevich shared that putting on the event takes a huge toll, considering it is entirely volunteer-based. He notes that it requires a ton of 'grit, heart and dedication' no matter the time of year.

To put this all into perspective, he shared that it requires eight months of planning (wow!), two months of setup, more than 70 volunteers each night and so many hours of operation. This is a huge undertaking, even outside of Halloween season.
He also mentioned his health, writing that he has faced severe health challenges over the past five years and running this event while enduring these challenges has taken its toll. I wish him the absolute best and of course, health comes first.

So all in all, this will be the final season of The Haunted Shack, which was a huge staple in the community. They gave back to the community as well, raising an enormous amount of money for local organizations through the years as well, as every dollar went back to places that needed it.

The attraction is still for sale but hasn't had any buyers just yet. There's a chance someone could swoop in and buy it, and reopen it as The Haunted Shack next year in a new location. However, The Haunted Shack as we know it today will only have one last season.
In the meantime, let's support Patrick and all he's done for the community and head to the attraction one final time next month. I know I will be there! The final haunt will be Saturday, October 24th.
