Late last year, a very unique listing appeared on Zillow that drew a lot of interest, especially from those who are fans of the paranormal. Not only was the property's history of great interest but so was the asking price.

The listing, located at 10035 Pokegama Lake Road in Pine City, Minnesota, is for a former sanatorium that was built in 1905. It features 12,702 square feet, 36 bedrooms, and 8 baths, and you'd get all of this for just $120,000.

According to Newsweek, a sanatorium was a specialized hospital for specific diseases like tuberculosis. They were typically located in the countryside, as is the case with this mansion. The facility closed in 1943 when it was sold to Redemptorist Fathers to be used as a school for priests.

The property would later be used as a chemical dependency treatment center under the name of Pine Manor. Due to financial issues, it closed again in April 1986.

Because of its history and appearance, speculation ran rampant that the property could very well be haunted. That speculation grew once TikTok user Riot Addams posted a video of the Zillow ad for the property, calling it a "zombie fortress".

That video has been viewed over 6 million times, with countless people saying such a property must have paranormal activity. Comments like "Sanitarium 😭😭😭 No thank you 😭😭😭 You are starring in that horror movie by yourself 😂" and "Old sanitarium = haunted AF!" are the norm for his video.

However, not everyone is scared. The listing is now officially listed as "pending", which means there is an accepted offer and the new owner will likely take over soon.

One wonders what the new owners have planned for this property as haunted or not, this mansion certainly needs a lot of work.

Despite the condition of this mansion, the location is great with views of Lake Pokegama & the backwaters of the Snake River.

There's A Great Reason An 887-Square-Foot Duluth Home Listed For $814,600

Recently, a Duluth home went on the market for $814,600. What was interesting was that the 2 bedroom, 1 bath home was 887 square feet. That translates to $918 per square foot.

Realtor.com says the median listing home price in Minneapolis, Minnesota was $325K in October 2023. The median listing home price per square foot was $235.

According to the National Association of Realtors, in March 2022, the average price per square foot of a home was $244, while the median price per square foot was $202.

Based on those figures, it would be fair to wonder why this property was listed significantly higher. It turns out, there is one great big reason why, which you'll see as you take a look through the property.
