The Downtown Perk virtual program will continue on a zoom basis.

Lined up for March 9th is Shaun Floerke. Shawn took over being President and CEO of the Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation. He used to be a district court judge and has transitioned to being the leader of one of the Northland's farthest out-reaching and most impactful nonprofits.

The Minnesota Council on Foundations says Floerke, is the successor to Holly Sampson who retired after 30 years. Floerke told MCF that he wasn't looking to leave his job of Minnesota's Sixth Judicial District, but when he was approached about the job he couldn't stop thinking about what the organization could become.

The GDC's Downtown Perk was forced to be a virtual meeting because of COVID and they couldn't meet face to face, but turned out to work better as people could attend and not have to make plans to leave work or get a sitter in some cases.

Times are challenging for businesses, especially small businesses and local business. This is a way for everyone to get together and share what is working or ideas that may help keep that business afloat.

You can send an email to bjlind@downtownduluth.com and let them know you plan to attend, so they can send you the zoom info. Please include your first name, last name, the company you work for, and your address (we will mail you the Great Harvest gift card). Price is $15 for members, $20 for non-members. This includes access to the program and a gift card to Great Harvest Bread Company
