The Waseca Police Department recently shared the news that Officer Arik Matson would be returning to his Minnesota home. As he continues his recovery, an accessible vehicle is needed for him and his family.

With that goal in mind, the following GoFundMe page has been started on behalf of Officer Matson:

Waseca Police Officer Arik Matson was shot and critically wounded in the line of duty on January 6, 2020.  Officer Matson is a member and friend of the Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association (MPPOA).

Arik has been in a rehab facility in Omaha, NE for nearly 7 months,  away from his family and friends. On  Monday, October 19, 2020 he will be coming home to his family.

While he has made great progress in his recovery he still will have a long road ahead of him.

One huge challenge the family is facing now is reliable accessible transportation to get Arik and the family to and from many medical appointments.

The MPPOA feels passionately about helping them raise money for a vehicle that can accommodate his wheelchair and their family of four.

At the beginning of the year, Officer Matson was shot in the head while responding to a call involving a suspicious person in the neighborhood.  After miraculously surviving the shooting, he has been doing his initial rehabilitation in Nebraska.

As he continues his rehabilitation journey with his family, securing proper transportation would be a relief for all of them.
