Giant Trolls Are In Secret Locations In Northern Minnesota
This is really cool! A Danish artist is enlisting the help of around 300 volunteers who have sworn to secrecy. He calls it "Troll Honor."
Thomas Dambo is a "recycle artist." He's made giant trolls out of trash in 17 countries. Now, he is in Northern Minnesota and he's building trolls in secret locations in the area.
Detroit Lakes has Project 412, and they decided to bring Thomas Dambo in to put these trolls in secret spots in the Detroit Lakes area. Project 412's mission is to encourage business, delight, and joy through art, music, events, and community in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota.
They hope that tourists will come for years to find the trolls and enjoy them. It's certainly worth a trip in my opinion.
They will unveil the trolls and locations next month. In the meantime, they are building these trolls out of garbage. Dambo says trolls speak for the forest and the creatures and animals. It's a fun, interesting thing to do, and it sends a positive message to show what cool things can come from what we throw out.
The biggest troll will measure 36 feet from head to toe. That's about as tall as a 3 story building! Thomas Dambo has created over 100 trolls. His YouTube Channel has episodes called Trash Talk where he discusses his creations.
Check out the story from KTSP in Minneapolis. They sent a field reporter out to get the scoop. Plan your next visit to the Detroit Lakes area! This looks like a fun family trip.
