Isn't that the way it always goes?  Suddenly, you are the "activities director" and have to come up with stuff to do that is affordable for your family, but fun.  The City of Duluth has you covered with free open skating at the DECC & the Heritage Sports Center.

Everyone regardless of age is invited to enjoy making memories with fun activities thanks to the City of Duluth Parks and Recreation department.  You'll want to keep this list of dates handy to take advantage of all the free skating opportunities that await your family.

Open Skate

On Sunday, January 31, you can skate at the DECC from 3-5p, thanks to the City of Duluth Parks and Rec and it's FREE!  Just grab your friends and bring your skates to the DECC's ice arena lower level.   There will be music to skate to and free prizes for the kids.
Back when I was young my mom use to drop me off at events like this and pick me up when I was ready, just in case you were planning that, you should know that children under 10 years of age must be supervised by an accompanying adult and helmets are highly recommended. (on kids and adults).
Oh, and as a reminder, open indoor ice skating is available during the school year each Wednesday night 6:30-8 PM at the Duluth Heritage Sports Center, 120 S. 30th Ave West.

Other upcoming free skate dates:

  • Skate for your Heart:  February 10
  • Mid-Winter Break:  February 15-19, 2:00-4:00
  • Spring Break:  April 4-8, 2:00-4:00
