Former Olympian, Carrie Tollefson Slated To Speak Next Week; Meanwhile Elementary Students Participate In Fit-N-Fun Run
There's a lot of shoes hitting the pavement in full stride tomorrow at Public School Stadium, 4405 West 4th Street, Duluth . About 1,800 Duluth elementary school students will participate in the fifth annual Essentia Health Fit-n-Fun Run. Starting at 9:30a, students from third, fourth and fifth grades from Duluth elementary schools will run one-quarter mile races throughout the day. For their efforts, the students will receive a Fit-n-Fun Run T-shirt and ribbon.
Then, MORE excitement on Tuesday May 22! Then there will be an Essentia Health Fit-n-Fun Middle School Assembly featuring 2004 Olympian Carrie Tollefson. She will visit, motivate and encourage students at Woodland and Morgan Park Middle Schools.
Fit-n-Fun Run and the Fit-n-Fun Middle School Assemblies were developed four years ago by Grandma’s Marathon and the Young Athletes Foundation. They they partnered with the Duluth Public Schools and SMDC – now Essentia Health. Their goal was to motivate children to lead healthier lifestyles.
