Fire Department Makes Water Rescue, Be Cautious

I am hearing more and more rescues happening in the waterways in our area, we need to be careful.

According to the City of Duluth Website:

The Duluth Police Department responded to a welfare check near an Access Road of South 37th Avenue West at 2:50 p.m. Upon arrival, the individual Police responded to jumped into the St. Louis River. The individual was located and brought to shore by Duluth Fire Department, who was the first fire company on the scene, and transported by Mayo Ambulance to a Duluth Area hospital. The condition of the individual is not yet known.

This incident is now under investigation. St. Louis County will be investigating the incident.

Granted that was St. Louis River, but all bodies of water need to be approached with safety at the top of your mind.

The water is very cold in Lake Superior and that can cause problems and so can a windy day. The wind, even if it's a nice day, can create conditions that make it unsafe to swim. The surrounding rivers also have more water in them than normal. Take precautions!!
