‘Fargo’ Season 3 Casts ‘Harry Potter’ Alum David Thewlis
It’s difficult to say when FX might finally thaw out Fargo for some Season 3 footage, but the way this cast is going, they’d better break out the heaters. Latest to join the next chapter of Minnesota murder and mayhem is none other than Harry Potter favorite David Thewlis, albeit presumably not as a werewolf. If only!
Entertainment Weekly confirms that upcoming Wonder Woman star Thewlis will serve as a Fargo Season 3 regular, playing the role of V.M. Vargas, described as “a mysterious loner and true capitalist who delivers Emmit (Ewan McGregor), the Parking Lot King of Minnesota, the bad news that he has just become partners with his employers, whose business interests lay outside the law.”
Thewlis joins the most recent additions of Jim Gaffigan and Halt and Catch Fire star Scoot McNairy, though no official details of the latter’s role have yet been released. Mary Elizabeth Winstead will also play Nikki Swango, described as “a crafty and alluring recent parolee with a passion for competitive bridge playing.”
Elsewhere of Fargo Season 3, we know that Ewan McGregor will play the dual role of brothers Emmit and Ray Stussy, the former a good-looking “Parking Lot King of Minnesota,” and the latter a resentful, flabby parole officer. The Leftovers favorite Carrie Coon will also take a central role as Gloria Burgle, chief of the Eden Valley Police, and a newly divorced mother struggling to understand the phone-obsessed world around her.
The 2010-set season will explore “selfie-oriented culture,” shooting for a spring 2017 bow. What other Fargo Season 3 surprises should we expect before a full cast list, or god-willing, some footage?
