The Duluth News Tribune recently reported that a shipwreck off of Michigan Island near Ashland County has been added to the National Register of Historic Places. The 187 foot 'Antelope" sank back in 1897 when it was being towed too fast. It took on water and sank mostly intact.

In the last year, shipwreck enthusiasts were able to use a remote camera to take video of the wreck. As you can see in the video, it's pretty much all in one piece. They hope to get funding to do another dive in order to get some better shots and explore further.
