Soon we'll be strolling through the beautiful Rose Garden in the City of Duluth near Lake Superior, without a jacket on.  The weather is getting warmer this weekend and you can feel the anticipation in the Northland.  Of course, to reap the benefits of the rose garden's beauty, the hard work has to start now and you're help is needed.

It happens annually in Duluth the “raising of the roses” in the popular Lakewalk Rose Garden.  Want to get in on the fun?  Volunteers are invited to join in on this annual spring tradition and there are two upcoming opportunities to do so.

Clear your calendar, the Rose Garden work days are slated for Tuesday, April 19th from 3:00 to 6:00p and Saturday, April 23rd 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.  Of course, the weather is still iffy, so dates and times are subject to change.

Even beginners are welcome because City of Duluth Park & Rec staff and representatives from the Lake Superior Rose Society will be on hand to teach the volunteers the spring steps of the Minnesota tip winterizing method for tender roses.  Gain knowledge while you're helping with one of the most visited areas of Duluth by locals and tourists!

Remember to dress for spending time outside in our Northland weather and if you have gardening gloves, please bring them.  If you could pre-register that would be appreciated, but not required.   When you arrive, look for City staff, they'll help you get started.

Register your participation by emailing cskafte@duluthmn.gov or calling 218-730-4334.
