Looking for a new internet service provider in the Twin Ports? Well, Elon Musk and SpaceX might have a solution for you, but it's not cheap.

Starlink internet is now available in our area, the internet is unique because it comes from Starlink's network of satellites that are orbiting around earth. SpaceX has been launching the satellites into space since 2018, now there are enough orbiting above to provide internet service.

Starlink internet is not the fastest, or cheapest internet option, but for some who do not have access to any other options it could be a game changer. Starlink says users can expect data speeds from 50Mb/s to 150Mb/s and latency from 20ms to 40ms, and may also experience times of no connectivity at all.

Starlink says that customers can expect dramatic improvements over the coming months to data speeds, connectivity and latency. They expect by the Summer of 2021 to customers to expect latency time of 16ms to 19ms, which is about what I'm seeing on my Spectrum internet service in Superior.

To get started with Starlink you'll need to check your address for service availability and pay $499 for the hardware, $50 for shipping and $99 a month for the service. Currently, Starlink has no data caps for users.

Starlink provides an app to help with the installation and the hardware can be installed at both ground level and on a roof, roof mounting hardware is available from Starlink if needed.

Starlink says that the hardware detects and melts snow that falls on it, but they recommend that hardware is installed in a place that isn't prone to snow build up. They also say that high wind and heavy rain can affect speeds.
