I knew that fake spring we had yesterday was too good to be true! It looks as though a winter storm is headed our way in Minnesota this weekend. If you got excited that spring was here, I am sorry.

It's been a weird few weeks of winter weather. Late last week, it was literally raining ice cubes in Duluth! Nothing about winter in the Northland surprises me these days. Ha!

On the other side of things, a popular fishing tournament in the area cancelled ahead of the weekend because of warm temperatures. It's been a roller coaster lately and it looks like it's not ending anytime soon.

The next thing in the forecast? A possible winter storm for most of Minnesota this weekend, including the Duluth area. This could bring us some pretty heavy snow!

According to several different forecasts, we could be dealing with quite a bit of snow this week and even into the weekend. To start, an account called Midwest Weather shared a graphic showing where in the state we are at risk of heavy snow.

This includes most of Minnesota, including the Northland. The forecast says there will be many chances for snow throughout the week but the strongest and most significant time period will be this weekend. (Why is it always on the weekend?!)

The National Weather Service of Duluth shared an outlook, sharing on Monday (March 9th) that we will see not one but FOUR rounds of snow this week. How did we get so lucky?

In the forecast they shared, they do acknowledge that it's a little too far out to give an exact forecast regarding how much snow we will see with that round but they are certainly in agreement with the forecast above in that we will see some snow this weekend. We will certainly be used to it after this week!

Last but not least, the National Weather Service of the Twin Cities shared a forecast as well, sharing that this weekend's storm will be more 'impactful' with rain and snow mix, along with strong winds and plowable snow across the area.

According to the forecast they shared on social media, we won't get as much as the Twin Cities but we are still looking at plowable snow if their forecast stays on track. Either way, it's going to be a super snowy week.
